I love spring! Who doesn't? It represents renewal, a fresh start, and heralds the arrival of great weather! It's also that time of year when we get into 'spring cleaning' mode.
We're all familiar and comfortable with shaking out carpets, wiping down walls, and opening windows to let the fresh breezes replace the stale winter indoor air. But very rarely, if at all, do we think about spring cleaning our minds and thoughts and, yet, why not?
Status quo needs to go!
Amanda Morris, a psychotherapist based outside of Washington, DC, states that we need to change our relationship with negative thoughts.
When a dark thought appears, notice it and simply let it float on by. Just like a dark storm cloud that passes and makes way for a beautiful rainbow.
This spring, take the opportunity to observe your thinking patterns. If you're not liking the head space you're living in right now, know that you own your thoughts and have the power to reframe, refresh and renew them, especially when they are clouded by negativity.
