Tip 1: Listen & Learn
Rather than judge and criticize differences, recognize that each team member has been brought on board for his or her unique skills and personality traits. You are going to run into people who do things in unfamiliar ways and the first step in enhancing the team dynamic is acknowledging and embracing the differences amongst team members with an open mind.
Tip 2: Celebrate & Praise One Another
If your team members are doing a great job, let them know. Be specific about why you appreciate a certain behavior or method. Giving positive feedback will encourage team members to continue these specific behaviors. The uplifting environment will also create a more welcoming and comfortable setting for others.
Tip 3: Create a Company Culture
When the core values, ethics and behaviors of an organization are communicated to employees, a vision for the future is developed. Having a clear vision and communicating this vision effectively will encourage employees to engage with their work and progress towards collective goals. Teamwork is only one of many side effects that result from a strong company culture.
Now that you've taken steps to build a strong team culture, keep the momentum going by keeping stress at bay.
